Core Stability and Postural Development in Children

Since roughly 1994 the world has seen a large reduction in the amount of infant deaths contributable to SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Proving that infants sleeping on their backs is the safest method. While this has significantly reduced the incidence of SIDS, it has also contributed to babies taking longer to reach their gross motor milestones, with nearly a quarter of back sleeping babies exhibiting gross motor delays at 6 months of age. A large proportion of these, presenting with weakness of the trunk and neck muscles, which are crucial for healthy postural development. Join us and learn more about core stability and postural development.
The seminar will be presented by Natalie Christmas (MCSP) Physical Development Director at Arts Plus. She will share her knowledge of how early exercise intervention can help together with tips on what parents and care givers can do at home to support a healthy core and postural development for their children.
